About SLO Rugby

While generally awe-inspiring, the history of the San Luis Obispo Rugby Football Club has been written because of hard work, dedicated team players, and a lot of good luck. Year 2005 SLO Rugby in its 29th year. Spanning three decades of ruggers, SLO Rugby has remained a dominant force in California and the SCRFU.
SLO Rugby has enjoyed first place finishes in Alabama, Arizona, Santa Barbara, Huntington Beach, Palo Alto and 3 times in the SCRFU. The Club has hosted teams from Wales, England, New Zeland Argentina and Australia. While making tours of their own to Wales England and the East Coast.
In the spring season of 2003, SLO Rugby finished the season with a 10 - 0 record, won the SCRFU DIII tournament, and qualified as one of Elite Eight teams for the USARFU Men’s DIII Championship in Virgina Beach, VA. A top five finished proved to SLO Rugby they could compete with the tops rugby teams in the nation.
At the conclusion of the Spring 2004 season, SLO Rugby again posted a respectable record of 8- 2 only to fall to Kern County in the finals of the SCRFU tournament. Two years of success brought the opportunity to compete again the DII level. Many new faces are present at practice; many old faces have returned to lend their experience, tenacity and vigor.
Undoubtedly, we have reclaimed the glory of years past, renewed the reputation established by our founders and are ready to create new legends for the future.
